Reopening Providence Journal

PROVIDENCE — The original owner of the famous Bob & Timmy’s Grilled Pizza, which closed over the summer, has moved back to the Spruce Street building with plans to launch Timmy’s Legendary Grilled Pizza in the space.

Tim “Timmy” Doyle went into the construction business after he sold the Federal Hill pizzeria and several other restaurants that he owned.

Doyle, who has been working for a construction company in Connecticut, said he and his business partner, Kyle Klewin, intend to reinvigorate the pizzeria, which has been at the location since he established it.

He and Klewin have signed a lease and they are renovating the space. The menu will not change, but the quality of the pizza and food will improve from where it was in recent months, Doyle said.

“We’re going to give it a good upgrade overall,” he said.

Bob & Timmy’s has been featured on NBC’s “Today” show. GQ Magazine has listed its pizza among the top 10 in the country.

Doyle said he will not set up shop in other former Bob & Timmy’s locations in North Smithfield and North Attleboro.

However, some interested employees from those locations and from the Federal Hill franchise have already contacted him and the plan is to hire them back, he said.
